Somewhere interesting

Pysanka museum in Kolomyia

Although Easter in Ukraine is a bit different compared to other places, it's still considered as one of the most colourful and fun holidays after New Year. People celebrate Easter in different ways. Usually it's celebrated with family. Children and adults all take part in preparation, kids paint easter eggs, which are called "pysanky" in ukrainian, and adults bake sweet bread which is called "paska".

Pysanka Museum was built in 2000 in the western Ukrainian city of Kolomiya. The central part of the museum is in the shape of pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg).

Inside of the museum you would see a lot of different styles of Ukrainian traditional Easter eggs and the process of their painting. It's definitely an intersesting place to visit if you're going to be in Ukraine, especially at Easter time. :)

What do you mean there's not enough nature?

I hear a lot of people say that Ukraine is grey and not interesting. Yes, of course some places are actually horrible to even look at, but you'd be surprised with places you could find in Ukraine.

I want to tell you guys about a place I myself didn't know about until about a week ago.

Love Tunnel in Klevan

This place is God knows where in Ukraine. Small town called Klevan, let's be honest: it's not the first place you'd go to see if you ever visited. But if you're interested in nature, have free time and a special person - i think you would like to go and see what it is. :)

What is it?
So basically, it's a train tunnel surrounded by trees. The trees are cut to make way for the roads, and branches are cut back to keep it clear. There is a legend that says: if you go on this train with your special person and make a wish, this wish will come true.

It is open at any time of the year. Whatever season it is, be it Summer, Winter, Autumn or Spring you can easily visit this tunnel alone or with someone.

Nice walk with your friends

Kreschatyk

Kreschatyk is the main street of the city. It is 1.3 km long and is in the centre of Kiev. Kreschatyk is one of the most popular places in Kiev. On the weekends the street closes for cars so people can walk there.

Thousands of people go there with their friends to spend time, just walk along the street or sit in a cafe.
Walking down Kreschatyk you will see a lot of tourists. A lot of activities and events also usually take place there. So, if you're visiting Kiev, don't leave until you've been to Kreschatyk street at least once.

Sweet Break

If you're out for a day in Lviv, and you absolutely love chocolate, you should visit "Lviv Handmade Chocolate". It is a MUST try! The chocolate there is delicious. You could find whatever type you want, sit down and realx with your friends of just take it with you to munch somewhere on your way.

It is best to go in Lviv, for it is originaly from there. However, if you are not visiting Lviv, you can also find it in a few other cities in Ukraine.

Traditions

Vyshyvanka

If you're looking for national traditions, vyshyvanka is the first you will hear about. It is a type of traditional Ukrainian clothing that women of all age used to wear before.

It was also believed that the more ornaments a woman has on her shirt, the more hard-working she is. Usually when a young man would pick a wife, he would look at a vyshyvanka she made.

Don't be afraid to buy one for yourself, especially if you're a tourist. Local people love wearing them and I'm sure they would be glad to see people from other countries wearing them too. You can find them in every second souvenir shop, or someone would even just try to sell it to you in a street shop. :p

Carpathian Mountains

My whole life I lived in Ukraine, and even though I have only been to Carpathian Mountains twice, I can surely say that it is one the most beautiful places there. It is a place for a lot of tourists at any time of year. Whether it is summer or winter you can spend a lovely time in Karpaty.
